Happy the children of the Lord most high,
The nations of the Lord who follow the Word of God.
Blessed are those who have heard the voice of the Lord Jesus,
And have set their paths to follow Him.
Happy are the children of the God of life,
The peoples of the earth who delight in the Lord God.
Blessed are those who shun the words of the wicked,
And take no comfort in the ways of those who oppose the Lord.
Happy are the children of the God of Moses and Abraham,
The families of believers who rejoice in God’s law.
Blessed are those who take to heart the Lord’s commandments
To love God and one another.
Happy are the children of the Lord of all Creation,
His daughters and sons who show respect for all life.
Blessed are those who are wise stewards of the Lord’s gifts,
And praise God always for the earth’s rich bounty.
All these are like a strong and vibrant tree – planted near clean water;
They yield fruit in every season, feeding God’s creatures in love.
They offer shade and shelter to comfort the weary;
They provide firm branches where the homeless find refuge.
Their hands – like the leaves of the highest branches – are raised to heaven
In never-ending praise to the Lord God above.
Happy the children of the Lord most high,
The faithful who choose to walk in his light.
The Almighty One watches over the way of his just children,
And always calls the wayward back to his loving embrace.
